ManagerBreakthrough ozone technology from Meditrox makes routine, whole room decontamination the way forward in infection control.

As forerunners of good practice, decision-makers in the healthcare sector are rewarded in terms of lower infection rates, better efficiencies and above all, improved public confidence.

Saving Lives, Saving Money

Whole room decontamination can be achieved in just one hour by the Meditrox 100 and with it, a 99.9% kill-rate of MRSA, c.difficile and other hospital “superbugs”.

Fast deployment and decontamination cycles allow for rapid turnaround in bed availability, impacting patient discharge times and waiting lists. In routine use, Meditrox ozone decontamination therefore supports service planning and improves patient flow.

This new generation of ozone decontamination equipment can also reduce, or eliminate altogether, the need for chemical cleaning which in turn cuts down on the stocking and handling of hazardous materials.

Mitigating Risk

Whole room decontamination on a regular basis prevents the build-up of bacteria and pathogens. And automated decontamination reduces any risk of lack of care by cleaning staff.

Current research shows that hospital beds are out of operation for 3 days following an infectious outbreak, bringing the overall cost of delayed discharge to between £7,000 and £10,000. The Meditrox 100 provides a more immediate and effective response: treated rooms can be re-occupied immediately after the 1-hour decontamination cycle.

In the worst case scenario, ozone decontamination cuts the risk of ward – or hospital – closure.

Compliance

Introducing ozone decontamination into existing ward routines helps to meet targets for better infection control. The requirement to register with the Care Quality Commission from 1st April 2009 onwards makes the policy of whole room decontamination intrinsic to good management.

Meditrox provides peace of mind to patients and public alike.
